Carnival monday, to the parade, and been thrown at with verrry hard sweets, flowers, and all kinds of other small items, like rhinefire balls, whenever you shout "Helau!". As everybody does these days in Düsseldorf.My sister and I met Cathy, her son and quite a few friends at Schwanenspiegel, a great place to watch and enjoy. As soon as we found them, there was the parade! More than 5 kilometers, more than 1000000 people watching and cheering, tons of sweets! The waggons were wonderfully done, check some here.
Back home early in the evening, to watch the news on the parades in Mainz, Cologne and Düsseldorf, once more, and for a quiet evening at home. The youngsters stayed longer, of course. Age and old bones! ;)
Today is the last day of carnival, but in Düsseldorf following tradition there are no big celebrations any more, some hardcore singers and drinkers in the pubs. If you want to enjoy some more, try this carnival game. Helau!
