Ash wednesday - the day after the burning of the nubbels in Cologne and Hoppediz in Düsseldorf. No more carnival now, the following weeks are traditionally time for lent and fasting. So on ash wednesday everybody goes to eat special fish dishes (which are great helpers against hangovers from all those beers, alt and kölsch).I didn't join in the fun, but took the train back to sunny and cold Berlin. My old collegue and friend Ibrahim from Düsseldorf (!) called in the afternoon, he's in Berlin to attend some ver.di meetings, and invited me to join them this evening. Looks like I'm definitely back! :)
