Kuhmo cultural life

Merja and Ari-Pekka took us across the eastern wilderness to Kuhmo where the Chamber Music Festival is on this week. But we could only get tickets for the 3 pm concert, and that would have meant to miss out on the Kalevala Vilage we had been looking forward to.
And we were right to go there! We had an english speaking guide who took us through the open air museum and explained on Karelian life and the travels and works of Kalevala author Elias Lönnrot.
We visited the huge libray in Juminkeko, as well. This beautiful building ill serve as the national information center for the Kalevala and as a channel for cultural exchange between Finland and the Karelian Republic.
Today we're on to Joensuu, and on our ay will enjoy one of the most beautiful views in all of Finland from The Koli mountains. :-)
