In Europe it's the same in all rural areas: young people get their driving licences and a car early, so they can drive to a party or go shopping - 70 km to and fro is no distance at all!
It was nice to stroll through Hämeenlinna, visit the castle and the church, and sit in the park by the riverside.
And we met our hc-friend Tanja during lunch break who is working on her summer job in Hämeenlinna, 80 kms from her home in Lahti.
Later, Viivi found some great orange spanish shoes to match her new dress, so now she has the perfect outfit for the Joensuu rock festival this weekend.
Afterwards, we decided to drive along the century-old oxen road, and visit the workers' mueseum in Forssa. We found the road allright, but the museum seemed to be closed. Such a pity! We would have loved to learn more about the workers' and the small industrial towns in Finland. :-(
Back home, now it's going to be a lazy evening with sauna (finally!!!!) and sauna-olut. :-)
