Jazz with Volker

Volker was in town with his collegues, and found some time in between meetings to spend with me. So much to do and see this weekend, but I had chosen just the right event for us to go to after meeting at CSD parade: "Kreuzberg jazzt!" at Bergmannstraßenfest, with Peter Subway and Souleymane Touré, the great percussionist and griot with his talking drums. Volker loved it! And so did I.
Four hours went by fast with walking around the festival area, and listening to the music. We just about managed to buy a new tie downtown before Volker had to join his collegues again. They were off to the VIP area of a boxing match, and I went back to Bergmannstraße, and a few hours later on to Crellestraßenfest.
My neighbours had been partying already all afternoon, with live bands, drinks and home made food, a lot smaller than the Kreuzberg festival, but very cozy and nice. When it finished at 22 h, I moved to Cafe Mirell at the other end of the street, to listen to the blues band playing there. It was well after midnight when I finally made it back home. Emil was a bit angry with me...
