Istanbul for the first time ever!

I had arrived at the station in the middle of the historic center of Istanbul. It's world heritage! So my hosts suggested to walk around and visit the famous sites first before driving up north to their home. I was very tired, but very eager to explore the city I had heard so much about, but never seen before. So the car was parked, and we walked through the drizzle to the Sultan's Topkapi Palace, the Hagia Sophia and the Sultan Ahmed Mosque.
Oh, the splendour and the beauty of the buildings and the treasures! It was almost unbelievable!
Before that we had a delicious breakfast ın a hotel garden pavillon (not outside on the terrace overlooking the bay because of the rain), and in between a short tea break at the 'Konyali' terrace ın Topkapi Palace wıth a great view onto the bay and the anatolian side of the city as well as across the golden horn. Despite the rain you could still see how beautiful this spot is! I'm so happy I came here and will be able to stay for a whole week.
It is gettıng colder fast, inside the house the heating is on, and later this week there will be snow! Imagine!
But for now I'm comfortable in Huriser's home, a spacious flat on the european side of Istanbul. I slept for 12 hours to make up for the sleepless night on the traın, and had a great turkish breakfast. I love learning all the recipes, and will certainly do some turkish cooking when back in Berlin. Turkısh food is so easy to get in my neighbourhood! ;)
