Starting the day without coffee - impossible! Lots of Berliners seem to think like I do. Coffee helps them make it through the day. Thus there's a cafe or coffeeshop in almost every street, inviting to have a break, sit down, relax, and after a nice strong hot black brew go on with whatever you meant to do. If you're really busy, you might get a "coffee to go" and sip it whilst running. Prizes vary from 40 cts for a simple cup of coffee german style to 4 Euro for a superspecial Latte Macchiato with caramel syrup, whipped cream and whatnot.Sometimes it has to be a delicacy at "Double Eye", Akazienstraße. On Saturdays the street in front of the small shop is filled with people queueing up to order one of their great and cheap espressos et al, and with people enjoying their hot, delicious, rewakening drink, often with a portuguese cake for the sweet tooth. It's so good, an artist put this painting besides the door. Makes you want some more...
